In June of 2018 Annika (left) interviewed Maddie and Adriene Lombardi at their family restaurant, the SeaGrille, on Nantucket. We were inspired to learn about the girls' grandmother/mother Robin and The Harvey Foundation that they established in her honor. Robin Harvey was an iconic member of the Nantucket community for decades. While raising their two daughters, Robin and her husband E.J. ran several restaurants on the island, including E.J. Harvey’s and the SeaGrille. And in general, Robin and her family were always deeply involved in their island’s tight-knit community.
An avid athlete, Robin often biked to and from work. During one of her rides home in 2012, she was hit by a truck but made a “miraculous recovery from her head injury.” (Cape Cod Times). After recovering at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, Robin began running the Boston Marathon as an annual fundraiser for Spaulding. Tragically, while training for the 2015 Boston Marathon Robin was hit by a car and killed.
To honor Robin’s beautiful energy and spirit, her family established The Harvey Foundation in 2015 "to empower and assist the pathfinders of education, athletics and community service." We hope to meet up with Maddie and Adriene Lombardi again later this year.
